Modelica is an open source modeling language used to create mathematical models of physical systems and to implement numerical simulations of systems whose behavior evolves over time.
This language is developed by the Modelica Association, an international non-profit association that includes members from both industry and academia with the aim of setting a standard in simulating dynamic systems.
Siemens AMESim is a direct descendent of the work started by the Modelica Association.
The simulation of the systems is useful for verifying their operation, optimizing the system and improving the performance of each individual component.
Using simulation software such as Modelica it is possible to solve numerically systems of algebraic and differential equations (DAE). It is therefore a matter of listing the equations, defining any parameters and initial conditions and this is possible without having to understand complicated programming languages.
The Value of Simulation in the Configuration
With a rules-based configurator, you can collect customer requirements, choose components, prepare the Modelica model, and run simulation to analyze system behavior.
The video shows an example of a simulation developed in Modelica language, integrated in the Siemens Rulestream ETO environment.
