The project makes it possible to make a significant contribution in terms of skills and technologies in the field of 3D Modeling, Cloud and Big Data services, developing tools for the formal management of technical knowledge. This is a fundamental requirement for the implementation of the Model Based Enterprise, an integral part of the new Industry 4.0 approach to production, including the phase of product pre-engineering and configuration management (digital thread).
Currently, commercial systems capable of managing complex problems through a set of knowledge-based rules, large amounts of data (both from the field and from simulations), invocations of commercial and proprietary applications, are not available either nationally or internationally. , all through distributed services and cloud-based collaboration.
The i-MAAT project therefore aims to fill this gap with the development of a platform capable of:
- Organize a systematic collection of knowledge to build a set of rules that can guide the design process (knowledge based engineering)
- Develop an intuitive environment with a friendly interface that can facilitate human interaction during the capture and use of technical knowledge
- Inject all those tools and rules that characterize a Model Based Enterprise (MBE) approach in a very preliminary phase of the design
- Organize data in a shared database, no matter where it comes from, efficiently and economically
- Manage the passage of incoming data to applications in a transparent manner for the user (this is one of the most frequent causes of human interaction in digital processes)
The i-MAAT platform will be applied to the selection and offer process of Nuovo Pignone products and in the future other companies which, due to its multidisciplinarity, is a sufficiently complex scenario to represent an excellent use case for the development of the platform.
